MLS Betting Preview
New York (2-11-4) at Columbus (4-3-7)
Saturday, 7:30 pm Eastern – Fox Soccer Channel

The New York Red Bulls meet the Columbus Crew in a rematch of the 2008 MLS Cup on Saturday. The Crew got off to a slow start this season but they have turned things around but the same cannot be said of New York. The Crew had a nine game unbeaten streak snapped last week at FC Dallas while the Red Bulls haven’t won a game since early May and haven’t won on the road in 21 games.

Columbus is a -175 favorite with a total of 2.5 over at SBG Global.

Columbus probably should be unbeaten in their last 10 games but they let FC Dallas score twice in the last 10 minutes to lose 2-1 last Saturday. "(It's tough to swallow), especially when you give up two goals in the last 10 minutes," head coach Robert Warzycha said. "I thought Dallas played well in the second half. That wasn't our best performance. I'm not saying they deserved to win. We gave up the penalty kick and we lost the game."

The Crew have 19 points from 14 matches and they are tied for third with Kansas City and Toronto in the Eastern Conference. The Crew are 12-0-5 at home in their last 17 matches. They are facing a New York team that has simply been hopeless on the road. "They're going to come here and try to steal some points," Warzycha said. "We've got to be careful and we have to play our game. We have to be better than (last) Saturday."

The Red Bulls have 10 points from 17 matches on the season. New York has been outscored 16-1 in MLS road matches this season. "To be honest with you, we have been searching for an answer for too long," said midfielder Seth Stammler. "We are struggling right now, can't seem to get a result and are giving silly goals and just can't put a strong game together. It seems like when we do score goals we have a couple of breakdowns and give it away. When our defense plays well our offense struggles."

The teams have met 46 times in their history with the Soccer Betting Red Bulls winning 21, the Crew 20 and their have been five draws. At Columbus, the Crew have 12 wins, the Red Bulls 9, with two draws. Last year each team won their matches at home with the Red Bulls winning twice at Giants Stadium while the Crew won the game at Crew Stadium. And the Crew won the MLS Cup 3-1 at the Home Depot Center.
